Galli, Gallo and Valazza the Italian champions
The 2019 season of the ACI Sport Italian Rallycross Championship ended today at the Maggiora Offroad Arena, after a long 8-month ride that provided emotions and spectacle to the fans.
Gigi Galli was literally left without an opponent, after the other drivers were stopped by various problems. The champion from Livigno, however, put on a great show with fast lap after fast lap. His extraordinary ride ended with a monstrous performance on the final lap: he stopped the chronometers on an extraordinary 42"330, new absolute record of the Pragiarolo track in Reverse conformation.
In the final championship standings behind Galli were Franco Mollo and Nicola Agrelli.
There was a great family battle between Marco and Matteo Valazza, and in the end Marco won the race and the Championship, just ahead of Matteo.
For Marco Valazza, it is the second title after 2017: third place in the championship for Austrian Lukas Dirnberger.
Victory with a capsize for Jo Van de Ven: the Dutch driver won the tricolour title in STC -2000 despite a spectacular capsize after a contact with Alberto Palestrini; Karl Schadenhofer won, respecting the predictions, the title in STC + 2000.
Marcello Gallo's perfect weekend: the driver from Gozzano (NO) won the race - ahead of the outgoing champion Gabriele Zoppetti and Michele Bormolini - and the championship, ahead of Simone Firenze and Maicol Giacomotti.
For Marcello Gallo it is also an encore: he was already Italian champion in 2016.
Sport Club Maggiora, promoter of the championship also in 2020, is already thinking about the next season: in fact, this evening, during the prize-giving party, the 2020 dates of the ACI Sport Italian Rallycross Championship will be announced; some news will be announced later.
