Italian RX Championship: Round 1 makes for an exciting Easter Monday

Florence, Valazza and Galli the winners today at Maggiora Offroad Arena

As per tradition, the enthusiastic and passionate audience of Maggiora Offroad Arena was able to enjoy the show offered by the drivers of the Italian Rallycross Championship and of the Swiss Autocross Championship in an Easter Monday characterized by a pleasant day under every profile.

Kartcross

Great competition as always in this category, where every Q seems a final; at the end "El Diablo", Simone Firenze (Planet Kartcross K3) won in 4'43.956, at an average speed of 77.285 Km/h, on the six laps foreseen; second position for an excellent Marcello Gallo in 4'44.407, while third, in a great comeback after a rather complicated weekend, was Nicolò Grieco (GMN Kartcross).

 

Super1600

A very positive weekend for Marco Valazza who, with his Ford Fiesta, won three out of four Qs and then went on to win the final in 5'11.274; Silvano Ruga (Renault Clio) would have deserved a good placing but a contact with Valazza forced him to retire.

On the podium went Marco Battelli (Citroen C2) in 5'18.896, and Pasquale Delfino, (Citroen Saxo) returning after a year's break, in 5'32.999,

 

Supercar

Always in front, except in Q4 where he was penalized for not having done the Joker Lap, Gigi Galli (Kia Rio) triumphed in the final in 4'42.058; however, it was not an easy weekend for the great rallyist, who said he had a lot of fun, due to some youthful problems of his car. Excellent second place for Nicola Agrelli (4'54.369), at his debut with the Volkswagen Scirocco, while third was Franco Mollo (Ford Fiesta R5), despite a stop during the final.

 

 

The next appointment

Round 2 of the Italian Rallycross Championship will be held on the weekend of 1/2 June again at the historic Pragiarolo circuit in Maggiora, but in its Reverse conformation.

The next event in the Maggiora Offroad Arena will be on 4/5 May with a great return, the Italian Land Speed Championship (Autocross).
