On 16/17 October the big debut of the Sardinian track
Just a few hours to go before the great debut of the Ittiri Arena in the Italian Rallycross Championship: Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 October will be held Round 6 of the Tricolore RX, a race with coefficient 2.
The course will be 1140 m long: 742 m will be gravel (65%), compared to almost 400 m, 398 to be exact, of asphalt (35%).
"We are - explains the President of Sport Club Maggiora, promoter of the championship, Riccardo Fasola - on one hand thrilled for this new adventure that sees the birth of the second permanent track dedicated to Rallycross in Italy after ours in Maggiora; on the other hand we are honestly a bit disappointed for the participation not meeting our expectations, especially in relation to the enthusiasm and the investments of Rally Arena Group made for the preparation of this new track. However, we are convinced that this is only the first step, which had to be done anyway, and that already from the next races in Sardinia the numbers will be important and will reward the commitment of the president of Rally Arena Group Gianni Mamillata and all his staff".
7 kart crosses will race in Ittiri: the first three of the general classification will be there, that is Marco Berniga (Planet Kart Cross K3) with 171 points, Marcello Gallo (Lifelive TN5) with 161,5 and Riccardo Canzian (Speedcar Xtreme) with 149,5. Also Mauro Vicario (Speedcar Xtreme) will be in Sardinia and the two young drivers Valentino Ledda (Ya-Car) and Mario Masala (Ya-Car) will be at the start, as well as Giorgio Olla, at his debut with his Planet Kart Cross K2.
As for the Super1600, in addition to the leader Silvano Ruga (Renault Clio, 88 points) will compete also his closest pursuer - with 60 points - Paolo "Popy" Barbieri (Citroen C2), aggregated to this category also Matteo Valazza that with his Citroen Saxo will try to gain points for the STC - category.
The RX5 race should be interesting, with some of the main protagonists, from the leader, with 52.75 points, Davide Riccio (Hyundai i20 R5), to the winner of the last round, Gian Maria Gabbiani (Peugeot 208 T16 R5), and Luca Maria Rizzello (Peugeot 208 T16 R5). At the start also Rosario Corallo, Supercar category leader with the Subaru Impreza.
There will be no lack of entertainment at the Ittiri Arena: in addition to the Tricolour RX races, which will be very important in terms of the championship, there will also be an atypical experimental test, a sort of pursuit race that will see 25 drivers at the start, all islanders.
Information on the race programme and entry fees are available on the Ittiri Rally Arena website
