The Italian Championship RX 2022 has come to a close

Great show at Maggiora Offroad Arena

With Round 6 that took place today at Maggiora Offroad Arena, the Italian Rallycross Championship came to a close, with the usual spectacle that characterized all the races and especially the finals.

RX5

South Tyrolean Werner Gurschler in a Skoda Fabia won today's race, 5'28"278 his time over the planned six laps, ahead of Stefano Avandero (Skoda Fabia) and LucaMaria Rizzello in a Peugeot 208.

The Tricolor Title was won by GianMaria Gabbiani, who, however, could not take part in the final because of a contact with Gurschler during the Qs, a contact that irreparably damaged his Skoda Fabia: the only one who could challenge him was Fabio Mezzatesta, who, however, with his fourth place finish stopped two points behind his rival.

Supercar

Without history the foretold duel between Rosario Corallo (Subaru Impreza) and Michele Andolina (Fiat Punto): In fact, The Professor was stopped by engine failure already on Saturday, and thus Corallo was crowned Italian Supercar Champion for the second year in a row.

Super 1600

Marco Valazza (Ford Fiesta) is the new Italian Super 1600 Champion, but today's race was won by new FIA CEZ Champion Jiri Susta, who was consistently among the best and dominated the final with his Skoda Fabia in 5'53"483. Second place went to Armando Tocchio (Peugeot 106) while Valazza took the third step of the podium.

STC

In the STC-1600 Paolo Barbieri (Citroen C2) deservedly won the Italian Title, although today he had to run on defense: a great victory for a dashing Marco Valsesia, who appeared particularly on form: 5'53"533 was the time of the Citroen Saxo driver, who preceded Matteo Valazza (Citroen Saxo) and Paolo Barbieri himself (Citroen C2).

In STC-2000 the race was won by the FIA CEZ Champion Roman Castoral (Opel Astra, 5'56"646); second position for an excellent Ermes Mapi (Renault Clio) who in his debut in Rallycross showed good qualities. Third position for Marco Nicolini (Peugeot 205), who with this podium finish became Italian Champion preceding a still good Arianna Corallo.

Alberto Palestrini is for the third consecutive time Italian Champion of STC+2000: today, however, the Renault Super5 driver could only watch, finishing sixth, the fight between the best-performing BMW M3s of the FIA CEZ Championship. The victory went to Poland's Slawomir Woloch (6'02"937), who preceded Hungary's Zoltan Held and the other Polish driver Halk.

Kartcross

Right from the Qs Marcello Gallo (Lifelive TN5) and Riccardo Canzian, who started only 2.5 points apart in the overall standings, dueled for supremacy in the championship. Unfortunately, this duel fell short in the very final: Marcello Gallo, author of an extraordinary start, sprinted to victory, while Canzian, who was trapped behind, was forced to retire already on the first lap. The final thus turned into a triumphant ride for the driver from Gozzano, who won in 5'10"492 to become Italian Champion for the fourth time.

RX Under 18

The special junior ranking was won by Valentino Ledda who preceded Marcus Antonio Martinelli (GMN) and Matteo Bernini (KC).

Support Race CIVF

Nice win for Duilio Leonardi (CAN AM X3) who preceded Claudio Esposito (Polaris CP PRO 1000T) and Marco Loffredo (Suzuki TDI 1.9).

Appointment 2023

Thus ends a fine season of the Italian Rallycross Championship: Sport Club Maggiora, promoter of the Championship, is already working on the next season.

The last event of 2022 will also be in Maggiora, on November 5, with the official championship awards ceremony.
